Munich/Stuttgart - The German Automobile Association (ADAC) today awarded Franz Fehrenbach, chairman of the Bosch board of management, its Yellow Angel prize as “Personality of the Year 2009.”

In doing so, the executive committee of Europe’s largest automobile club honored Fehrenbach for “the global corporation’s ecologically oriented innovative strength, for which he has been responsible.”

Fehrenbach had, they said, single-mindedly driven Bosch’s transformation from automotive supplier to environmental technology corporation.

Dr. Norbert Reithofer, chairman of the BMW AG board of directors, and, as last year’s “ADAC Personality,” presenter of the award at the ceremony, also observed that “openness, integrity, and an unwavering sense of purpose have remained the key characteristics of Franz Fehrenbach at every stage of his career at Bosch.”

Fehrenbach accepted the award with pleasure, saying that “above all, this has been awarded for the way we have dealt with issues that are not just important to me, but are of even greater relevance and importance in these difficult times:

- sustainable business management,

- conducting business with credibility and integrity, and

- the difficult but worthwhile task of maintaining a balance between securing the long-term survival of the company and social and environmental interests.”

The ADAC “Yellow Angel 2009” prize-giving ceremony was held in the Munich Residence palace complex. Around 500 personalities from business, politics, and society attended the function.
